Andy In Nice 2008 I’m Andy Henry, I’ve been using the Internet for marketing purposes since 1999 and I’ve used just about every method you could hear of. I’ve created this blog so that I can share what works and what doesn’t with anyone who’s walking a similar path and doesn’t want to have to relearn the lessons I learned the hard (and long) way. The truth about how to get 6000 Twitter followers in 30 days - For Free.

    Friday, August 14th, 2009
This is EASY to do. For FREE!!!!

I don’t understand why people seem to keep talking about this like there’s some secret to it.

    Here’s the skinny.

Twitter will let you follow enough people each day that you can get 500 new followers a day just by following the maximum you’re allowed and watching many of them follow you back.

If all you do is spend a month doing this (unfollowing those who don’t follow you back within 24 hours or so) - you will have 6000 in one month.

Obviously there are more elegant ways to achieve this and you can get many more followers just by tweeting stuff that people want to retweet and putting yourself in directories that new tweeters look in for relevant people.

There are directories just full of people who will follow you - check out Twitter Directory and Search, Find Twitter Followers : WeFollow

Then there’s the people with massive followers that will also follow you, if these people retweet something of yours - you get lots of new followers.|

This stuff isn’t rocket science and you don’t need any tools to do it, but using some (like tweetdeck to make sure you see messages from your friends) just makes it easier.

I have my own tool for managing multiple accounts but it’s not hard to do manually.

So you don’t need spend hundreds of dollars, just maybe $10 for a tool or something if you really want to but you can do it yourself.

Here are some names you can follow that will probably follow you back, and they have lots of followers.

    #Twitter Tips - Using Hashtags

    Tuesday, June 2nd, 2009

    Hi,

Hashtags on Twitter are something that many people don’t spend the time to get used to.

The hashtag is a term prefixed by a # and is used to let you categorise your Twitter messages into a theme.

If you tweet messages on many different subjects the hashtag will let you tag them so that people know that they’re part of that particular category.

On Twitter Memes tend to show up quite often. The most popular one I’ve seen so far is #FollowFriday where people follow new Tweeters and spread the word about who they recommend their followers should also follow. Many people use the #followfriday hashtag but include so many people that you just see a line of names, so in my opinion it’s much better to tweet less people with some detail of why you think others should follow them.

The hashtags can also be used to search for messages and so by using them you’re also helping other people find your tweets about a particular subject or event.

If you’re using Twitter to market your business then this can be very useful.

If you want to see what a hashtag search looks like, just go to http://search.twitter.com and give it a try for yourself.

Websites like http://hashtags.org shows popular hashtags and some statistics for them.

http://whatthetrend.com can help you figure out what a particular hashtag is all about.

You can use hashtags for group chats by getting people together online at the same time and using the hashtag to filter your messages. You can spread the word using tools like TweetGrid and Tweetchat

You can ask a question and have people use the hashtag to share their answers.

One popular use is talking about popular subjects. As I write this the recent Britain’s Got Talent show just finished and the runner up has been talked about (and hashtagged) a lot and is very popular and visible on Twitter (her name is Susan Boyle).

Being an Internet Marketer I’m interested in marketing events and have seen a few people tweeting with hashtags while at events. In this case it’s often useful to put the tags at the end of the message to make reading them easier.

I hope that’s given you a useful start at using hashtags and you’re now feeling like having a play.

If you want to talk about this some more please use the #TwitterTips hashtag and I’ll look out for messages :)

    Andy
