Andy In Nice 2008 I’m Andy Henry, I’ve been using the Internet for marketing purposes since 1999 and I’ve used just about every method you could hear of. I’ve created this blog so that I can share what works and what doesn’t with anyone who’s walking a similar path and doesn’t want to have to relearn the lessons I learned the hard (and long) way. To Do Lists - What Do They Say About You

    Sunday, March 2nd, 2008

While meandering around the Bloggosphere this morning I found this really funny blog about to do lists. The owner has created a book which is a compilation of hundreds of other peoples To Do lists. It’s funny and kind of inspiring and makes you think about what you should be doing. The entries aren’t just shopping lists, everything from things to do before you die, to qualities to look for in your next partner.

    Check it out here: http://www.todolistblog.com/

New Resale Rights Products On Offer to 150

    Monday, November 26th, 2007

My friend Ameer Salim has packaged a huge collection
of top quality products with exclusive resale licenses
so that you can rake in 100% of all profits for
yourself! There will only be 150 licenses sold at this
    hugely discounted price.

And mind you: This ISN’T another low-quality “Private
Label Rights” or “Master Resell Rights” package that
you see nowadays. Often these products have extremely
low perceived value that most customers do not know
what to do with them after purchasing.

I can’t tell you any more details for now, but you
can go to the link below to grab your own package:

Have you found the information you need?

    Friday, October 12th, 2007

    Hi,

As I type this, I’m in an airport in Hungary using an internet cafe machine with a keyboard that has keys in funny places so please forgive any spelling errors.

My recent seminar visits have reminded me just how much I’ve learned since I became interested in Internet marketing in 1999.

For some reason I still keep assuming that everyone else knows what I know and sees things like I do, but i keep getting reminded that this isn’t the case.

    So here’s my question::

Are you happyy that you have the information and tools you need to succeed online?

or are you still missing something despite all the innformation and self proclaimed gurus around.óó?

I’ve started working on a set of products giving my perspective on many things IM related, but I don’t want to make any mmore assumpttions about what you need, if anything.

just let me know by comment or email (andy @ this domain)

The Secrets To Effective Pay Per Click

    Friday, October 5th, 2007

    Hi,

In my private coaching and mentoring business I sometimes help people make their PPC campaigns a more effective part of their online businesses, but I don’t usually talk much about PPC in the public domain. This is usually because it’s the sort of subject that is easy to discribe and show people in person but not easy to get the message across about via email or forums.

Basically, there’s a right way to do PPC and lots of wrong ways.

I didn’t really realise just how many people were using the wrong way until a couple of recent seminars where I talked to the attendees between sessions.

While I put my own information together on this subject I thought I’d do you the favour of pointing you to a resource which will explain the good stuff clearly. This might be all you need to start making a massive difference to your marketing effectiveness.

    Seminars and Lunches

    Wednesday, September 26th, 2007

If you’re in the UK then you should be aware of some things that are happening for IMers.

The first is our regular London Lunches.

We had the most recent one last Friday and there were a lot of new faces.

These lunches are just an informal get together for whoever wants to come along and have lunch and talk about working online, nothing stressful, just a bunch of friendly IMers.

    Coming very soon……

This weekend is Frank Garons free seminar which is pretty amazing when you consider who he’s got speaking (including Marlon who I mentioned in a recent post).
If you’re available, you should check it out.

It’s at the Novotel In Hammersmith on September 28th - 30th.

    www.internetsuccessbootcamp.co.uk/

The other is Rob Puddys event in Coventry on 5th -7th October.

    www.britpacklive.co.uk

I should be at both of these, although I might miss Friday of Franks event.

Have fun and look me up if you go.

    Marlons Formula.

    Sunday, August 26th, 2007

A few years ago I met really nice guy who knew a lot about Marketing.

This was not ordinary guy, he was very animated and spoke loud and fast.

He did what I still remember watching as THE most memberable Internet Marketing presentations I’ve ever seen.

This particular time he was talking about ‘getting it done’ and the fact that until things are completely finished, you’re still not earning money. Whether it’s the sales letter that’s “nearly done”, or the product “being tested” - it aint done until everything is in place for you to earn money from it.

His name is Marlon Sanders and he recently wrote an excellent article which I’d like to share with you.

    Enjoy!

How to Escape Your Day Job, Pay Your Bills, And Make Progress Towards The Ideal Lifestyle by Marlon Sanders

There are 6 basic ways to get dough online:

    1. Promote affiliate products

    2. Google adsense

    3. Sell a service

    4. Sell advertising5.

Sell physical products (think eBay)6. Sell informationYou’ll notice that the last 4 all involve selling something. That’s the approach I wanna talk to you about today.I did a survey with my Milcers and Alist members. I found out that most of them are still stuck to a degree in getting things going.I want to give you an abbreviated action plan that I spend 100 pages elaborating on in “Gimme My Money Now” and that the icons walk you through in “The Marketing Dashboard”.There are MANY Formulas out there. Here’s the Marlon Sanders Formula in a nutshell. So many of you have written and said, “I need a Formula. I need step-by-step.” This is the big picture:1. Find demand2. Write sales letter3. Create info product to meet demand4. Roll out with affiliate programHere’s what I found out from my survey. Most of you guys and gals have jobs that you want to escape from. You have bills and debts to pay.And most of you are coming into this without a lot of prior knowledge of marketing and some of you have limited computer skills.Based on that, do you think it’s safe for me to say it’s unrealistic to think you’re going to quickly and easily become a zillionaire? Well, it’s true. If you have no background in sales and marketing, and you don’t have very good computer skills, you have a learning curve ahead of you and that takes time.HERE’S HOW I PERSONALLY DID ITI remember when I was broke and bought deodorant with all pennies. But what I did was kept learning and didn’t expect easy nor overnight results.I kept buying books when I could afford them. There were no cheap and easy ebooks back then. I could have done it10 times faster if I had access to all the information available today.Anyway, my way out was self education. And action. I kept doing little projects to put what I learned into ACTION.I ran this one little business where you sold booklets using answering machines. You didn’t have voice mail then. So I had 3 answering machines hooked up in my home (my friends hated it).I ran these little ads in what we call in the U.S. “penny shoppers.” These are little papers given away for free that are all classified ads.I ended up running ads in 72 cities! And people would leave their name and address on the answering machines. I shipped the books C.O.D. Half the books came back. It was sorta like paying out 50% affiliate commissions. You didn’t have Paypal or easy merchant accounts in those days. So you had to do C.O.D. I sold $12,000 of books via “mail order.” And I was exhilarated to do so. I think at the end of the day I probably LOST money. But I sure learned a lot. Then AOL and CompuServe came along and I started writing sales letters and running ads on there. You’d run a little classified ad (they were free on AOL). People would email you.Since autoresponders didn’t exist, you’d personally email them back your “free report.” Since there weren’t any PDF’s then (at least, that I knew of), the free report was a long email. The “big trick” my friend Jonathan Mizel taught back then was to put their name in the return email! That was a big secret back then.Mizel, me, others all learned copywriting from Tested Advertising Methods by John Caples. That was like one of 4 or 5 books on copywriting. But you know what? We wrote some pretty good sales letters back then. I first met Jonathan Mizel ’cause he sent me one of his sales letters, and I thought it was good. So I wrote and asked him where he learned to write copy.Of course, he said “Tested Advertising Methods” by John Caples. So we were immediate friends.AOL was great. You could test out your little ads, emails and sales letters. I don’t even think in those days we sent out follow up emails. As far as I know, my friend the late Corey Rudl created the demand for autoresponders when he wrote about how he brought in all this money by automatically emailing buyers 4 days later. It was only after that someone was smart enough to create an autoresponder. Corey’s stuff was hand coded. Gosh, I miss Corey. And I reckon you’ve been in this business a long time when you see your friends move on to the next great adventure.Somewhere in this time line (it all escapes me), I had a little retail store selling self help books and tapes. The first thing newbies think to sell online is either diet stuff or self help.Man, self help is a tough sell. Both Dan Kennedy and I had self development stores. And we both lost bux on ‘em. But I did have the chance to write and send out a few sales letters. And since I often didn’t have the money to print and mail letters, I’d call ‘em on the phone.I found out that just by calling people, I could say ANYTHING and I’d STILL get a lot of people coming in for the next 3 weeks. That’s the power of staying in contact with your customers.Anyway, I could go on with this story. I’ve told the rest of it in bits and pieces in different places. What are you supposed to get out of this?Dan Kennedy I think had a path kinda like mine. And what he said once is profound. He said, “I became an overnight success after 20 years of effort.”Now, I’m NOT saying you need 20 years of effort. You don’t. But neither is 20 minutes a week gonna do much for ya.Most of the people I’ve seen make it in this business do so after trying things that didn’t work. And they kept on trying. And sooner or later, somethin’ clicked.I think I shoulda called this article, “Sooner or Later, Something Clicked.”So you got a job that sucks. You got bills that are stacked up. Hopefully you can buy deodorant with something other than pennies like me in the old days.So what do YOU do?My friend, I’d personally tell ya to do what I did. Fall in love with the process more than the immediate fixation of “I gotta make this work now or the whole thing is a scam.”What you’re learning is marketing. And that’ll benefit you your whole life. It can help you get your son or daughter or friend a job. It can help you raise money for your Church or charity. It can help you promote an idea whose time has come.See, a LOT of people say, “I feel like I’ve just wasted my #*$&* money on stuff.”I my response is, “Then you don’t understand what you’re learning. No wonder things haven’t clicked for you yet.”See, this isn’t about gimmicks. It isn’t about you figuring out how to trick people into buying with magic words. It isn’t about fooling the search engines into stickin’ your stuff at the top. If you do this business the way I teach it, it’s about learning marketing. And yeah, I said the dirty 5-letter word — LEARN. You can paint it up. You can put perfume on it. You can sell the sizzle not the steak. But my friend, what you’re doin’ is learning. And like my friend Jim Edwards says, “That isn’t something you microwave.”"So Marlon, tell me how long this is gonna take and how much I’m gonna make when I’m done?”Rule 1: People learn at different rates, so no one knows.Rule 2: You’ll never be done.Rule 3: It depends on what you sell, who you sell to, how much you charge, what your margin is and how often they buy. Some people like Russ Brunson get in this business, do it part time between classes in college and go great guns with it. Russ was one of my top affiliates. But he figured out this business so quickly, before I knew it he had his own line of highly successful products. More power to him!Others are like me and take like 10 or 20 years to learn it. What’s average? Average is not doing anything, therefore not learning anything, therefore the bills pile higher and the job gets tougher.”Well, if you can’t tell me how much I’m gonna make, how long it’s gonna take and how much it’s gonna cost me, then I think this whole thing is a scam.”To say that is to say you believe marketing is a scam. Because at least the way I teach it, that’s what you’re learning. What’s my advice?Think of the best info product idea you know how to come up with. Interview some experts and record it. Or have a friend interview you. Do a little 3-hour product, write a sales letter for it. And see if anyone buys.If they don’t buy, guess what? You asked the market a question and the market answered. You asked the market, “Do you want to buy this?” And the market responded, “No, not in the way you’re presenting it to me.”Your choice is to present it differently or do another product. Along the way hopefully you learn some things about how to find out what people want, how to get ‘em to buy, how to fulfill products, write letters, create sales pages and so forth.Honestly, in the DOING, you’ll learn a lot more than you’ll ever learn in the reading. You ask. The market answers. You learn along the way.But if you’re a spectator and you never get in the game, I can guarantee you one rock solid thing: You’ll never win the game if you aren’t in it.This is a great business. It isn’t for everyone. It sure isn’t a way to become a zillionaire overnight. Maybe after 5, 10 or 20 years you hit that zillion and you’re the next John Reese or Jeff Walker.I don’t think everyone should be in this business. If you don’t wanna figure anything out yourself, if you don’t wanna learn how to solve problems, if you don’t wanna learn more things about html and the computer than you really wanna know, if you can’t tolerate risk, if you need your first attempt to be a success, or even your first 3 or 4, then I don’t know, if you can’t afford to spend money on learning and education, if you can’t afford to try things that don’t work, if you think it should all be simple and easy, I don’t know if this industry is for you.A lot of people get seduced by the lure of ez dough. The promises of zillions without learning. Just connect the dots and you too can be John Reese, Marlon Sanders or whoever you wanna choose. Here’s the deal: People WILL sell you a turnkey system to escape your job, make zillions or whatever. They’ll give you the fish. I want to teach you TO FISH.I have a strong belief that unless you buy a franchise, in most cases your going to better off learning marketing than “buying a fish.” There are exceptions. But more often than not, buying a fish doesn’t serve you well. Some of my friends would disagree with that premise. I happen to have a strong conviction that you are better off learning marketing. My friends are RIGHT in that people DO want to buy the fish versus learn how to catch it. So oftentimes, you’re best off selling a “fish” product. But everybody has their perspectives. And for me, my criteria for buying a product: If whatever “IT” is doesn’t “pan out” for you, are you STILL better off from having spent money on it? Will it continue to benefit you, your family or your friends in the future? If the answer is NO, then think twice before spending your money. You have a job you wanna escape, bills to pay off, retirement to prepare for. Or special needs like a sick loved one. Or a sickness yourself.I can’t promise you ez zillions. There’s no integrity in that.I can’t promise you 6 figures a year ez as pie. What I CAN promise you is that selling products works. It’s no scam. People been doin’ it for thousands of years.I can promise you that marketing works. Always has. Always will.I can promise you that money and time spent learning marketing can pay off in many ways.I can promise you that if you find demand, meet it with products and well-executed promotions, and you do that over time, those bills will likely fade away.I can promise you that everybody on the Net selling you this or that “dough making system” ALL have 1 thing in common — THEY are selling you a product, service or seminar. They have a target market. They have an intro offer. They have a back end.I believe in paying more attention to what people DO than what they SAY.People get all confused what to DO. And there’s a new system invented every day that’s the next big thing. Thank God. I love commerce. But to remove the confusion, understand this:They all may disagree on HOW you make money. But one thing is certain: They’re making bux selling a product to a target market — YOU!Go and do thou likewise.I remember back then. When I bought deodorant with all pennies.I remember the date I had with a model in a car that smoked like a bomb. And to me, there’s no confusion. It’s all crystal. It’s all simple. Take away the smoke. Take away the mirrors. You need a product. You need people who want it with the money to buy it. You need some great promo out there. There’s only ONE method people having using to pay their bills and quit their jobs for the past 1,000 years –Selling products and services to a target market with a great sales pitch that presents benefits and solves problems. You wanna quit that job? You wanna liquidate that debt? I don’t have an ez zillion for you. But I do have a crystal clear answer.Find a group of people. Find out what they need and want. Meet those wants with a product. Provide great service. And who knows. Maybe. Someday. If the stars shine down on you, you’ll hit that pot of gold at the end of the rainbow.

Make $1000 from one forum post.

    Wednesday, August 1st, 2007

    Hi,

    Here’s something you’ll love.

I’ve been a member of the Warrior Forum for a few years, and every now and again I run a thread where I offer forum members some cash for sharing their ideas about what works for their online business.

I started one yesterday - but this time, so other people decided they wanted to add funds to the pot in order to give people more incentive.

The pot is now at $1625, so I’ve decided to split it 3 ways.

The top post (decided by me) will get $1000.

    2nd - $500

    3rd $125.

So if you’re struggling to make money online and you have a Paypal account - This could be the easiest money you ever made.

    Speedy PPCs

    Saturday, July 21st, 2007

I forgot the link to the new PPC tool that’s out next week is:

    Speedy PPCs

PPC (Pay Per Click) Advertising On Steroids

    Friday, July 20th, 2007

    Hi,

It’s been a while since I posted here. As you know already, I don’t like just posting about nothing and I don’t post just to jump on the trendy bandwagon for every new product (obviously, since I haven’t posted for a while and there have been a LOT of new product launches).

I’m currently testing a new tool (not released yet) that has been created by someone who I respect and that does something which is actually saving me a LOT of time and effort, plus making more money :) and although it’s not available to the public yet I wanted to start to tell you about it in advance of the review which I’m writing.

    Why am I bothering?

    Good question ;)

There are a few reasons actually, and they’re mainly about helping you cut through the online noise and see the real gems when they’re there.

You’ve probably been bombarded with emails promoting many things lately, and the promoters have used every trick in the book to make you get out your credit card. This means you either don’t have any money left, you can’t spare what you do have, you can spare it but only on the right things, or you’re doing a great job of not getting sucked in to the marketing machines constantly running and aimed at you. (Great job if you’re in the last group).

Anyway, if you’ve met me in person or we’ve spoken a few times you’ll know that I’m not like most Internet Marketers, and I’ll tell you it straight, whether that lines-up with what the ‘Gurus’ are saying or not.
This has cost me a lot of money over the years - but I can sleep well at night.

So, the product I’m going to be telling you about over the next few days (it launches in just over 5 days) is one of those golden nuggets that you really DO want to take a look at.

I’m not going to insult you by telling you that you will fail if you don’t have it, or that you NEED it in order to run a successful business - but I want you to seriously take a look at it, as I believe that it will make a huge impact on anyone that actually uses it seriously.

It’s biggest benefit is - Time Saving.

If you’re just starting out, maybe you have more time than you know what to do with - I’m not in that fortunate position, so anything that can save me substantially more time than it takes is useful to me.

You only have 24 hours in each day, and there’s only one of you - so in order to scale your activities to the point of massive success, you need to leverage:

    Time
    Money
    Relationships

Those things make the difference between a hard-working, moderately successful person, and a lazy but massively successful person.

This tool can do a months PPC work in less than 15 minutes!!

    Think about that.

This is work designed to increase your bottom line. More of this work getting done directly translates into more revenue generated.

I’m still testing the tool for myself right now, so I’ll leave it there for now.

Watch this space for updates and a full review.

    Andy

Big Site On One Domain Or Multiple Small Sites?

    Tuesday, June 5th, 2007

    Hi,

I wrote about this exact thing a couple of years ago - and people are STILL looking for the same answers :)

To make it interesting, I’ll just comment on the advantages of using multiple sites rather than one:

Obviously there are a lot of variables that only come into play when you get specific about the purpose and goals of any website, so I’ll try and stay generic.

Point 1 - Multiple domains DOES give you extra link building options. If you were going to submit your big site to 200 directories and 200 ‘other’ places to get links - you now have multiple links from the same places (one for each site), so there’s the obvious difference that more links can make.

Point 2 - With multiple sites you can have all 10 of the top Google listings instead of just one plus a supplemental.

Point 3 - With multiple sites you can brand them all differently and make the sales copy, colour-scheme etc targeted to the niche which each site addresses.

Point 4 - It also makes it easier to segregate the email lists that you build for each sub-niche and therefore makes your follow-up marketing more effective.

Point 5 - Since you have multiple URLs, you can run more Adwords campaigns (you can run one add to each domain, so more domains means more ads - plus they’ll be more targeted)

Point 6 - Just because they’re separate sites, doesn’t mean they have to be small. They can still be authority sites.

Point 7 - Tracking stats is easier with multiple sites because they’ll all have individual stats, so no filtering or messing about required.

Point 8 - With multiple sites, you’re creating more tangable assets to sell on (or ‘flip’ if you wanna be trendy), but can still put them together as a package to get the value for everything sold at once. With more ezine lists and more tracking stats etc. it’s easier to show value in each area.

Point 9 - If you’re selling Ad space in your ezines or on the pages of the sites, then it’s easier to show that the advertising will be targeted and more likely that you can have less links on high PR pages (thus increasing the link sale/rental value and ezine advertising revenue)

Point 10 - It’s much easier to get conversions when everything is focused and less confusing for the visitors, and easier for them to tell which action you want them to take.

    Andy

    Outsourcing

    Sunday, June 3rd, 2007

    Hi again,

I was in Portugal for most of last week and being away reminded me of the importance of outsourcing tasks in order to be able to stay productive even when you’re preoccupied with something.

For me, last week meant that I needed to keep on top of my article writing.

In order to keep up my productivity level as planned I ended up outsourcing the creation of 125 articles.

I used Elance.com and in the end chose a lady in the US who is doing them for $5 each.

So, for the sake of $625 and a little time posting the job and choosing a responder, 5 of my websites will have content created while I’m busy doing other things.

I’ll be in France and Belgium this week, so I’m just setting out what I’ll be outsourcing for this week (that’s what reminded me to come and talk to you again :) )

So, I suppose I’m just wanting to remind you that outsourcing can be a really useful part of your business, especially if (like me) you’re always doing more than one thing.

    Help Starving Children.

    Sunday, May 27th, 2007

    Hi,

In case you didn’t know, Stephen pierce is running a charity event right now.

He’ll buy a meal for a starving child for every person who downloads his free report from:

    http://www.foragreatercause.org/

There’s also a OTO page which asks for a $30 contribution.

If you want to help buy can’t afford the $30 and you’re a member of the Warrior forum, I’ve offered to sponser 5 people (pay their $30 for them), which you can see in this thread:

    http://www.warriorforum.com/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=156349

As long as you do something you can help.

    The Truth About Internet Marketing

    Tuesday, May 22nd, 2007

    Hi again,

I was reminded today about just how much BS new IMers are subject to.

So, just in case you forgot:

1 - Making money is as easy now as it ever was

2 - Using your brain and being different is much more likely to make you rich than copying other people is.

3 - Don’t believe anything you hear - Test EVERYTHING for yourself.

4 - All the markets have NOT been saturated, your unique approach could well make all the difference.

5 - You do NOT need the latest tools, the expensive memberships, seminars, workshops, coaching etc. in order to make money online.

6 - Leverage as much as possible, you don’t have to do it alone, and working with others can increase your profits and reduce your timescales massively.

7 - Remember to enjoy the ride, if you’re spening 16 hours a day working on your online business, take a look at what you’re doing and making sure you haven’t swapped one job for another.

8 - Making money can be easy and fun - don’t let anyone tell you otherwise.

9 - Don’t forget your friends and family - Success is more than just about making money. Who wants to be rich but have no friends or family to share it with?

10 - Listen to everything I say, but do everything for your own reasons - Success is personaly, and no-one knows what success means to you like you do.

How To Approach A New Market

    Tuesday, May 22nd, 2007

    Hi,

I gave someone some advice for the jewelry industry, but most of it is decent advice for approaching a new IM project so I’ll repeat it here for you:

    1 - Market research.

In this phase I look at the products, names, descriptions etc that will be sold and do research into how many people are searching, what they’re typing, what top 20 sites come up for each term, who the competition are, how well they’re optimised, what keywords they bid on for PPC, how many pages they have indexed, how many links, do they upsell, what is their USP etc..

    2. Plan of attack.

This will depend a lot on the clients funds, but once the ‘weak’ areas in the competition are decided, we go to work to take over some keywords.
This can be for organic search, PPC or both.
This also includes any strategic business alliances that can be leveraged to make sure of the best impact.
Sometimes buying competitors sites is included in this phase.

    3. Continuation Plan

This is the ongoing strategy that includes using PPC while the organic traffic increases, plus working on traffic generation strategies that support the project (offline events, press releases, articles, etc.)
There are always different scenarios and no answer will fit them all, for some niches taking over in one go works better than picking at weak points, for others guerilla tactics work best.

Jewelry is a good niche because there are always things you can do offline, and there are so many occasions during the year (birthdays, weddings, Xmas, Anniversaries, Engagements, etc. etc.) that you can be almost continuously doing some specific promotions for different segments of your market.
Also, think about the age groups that your products are for and see if you can create portals for each separate area of your market.

The more focused you can be, the better CTRs and purchase rates you’ll get.
Also, think about sets, people can easily be upsold onto ‘matching’ earings, cufflinks etc… or “his and hers” gifts.

You’re entering a great market, it just needs a little more structure and planning to get great results, but it’s certainly achievable if you stick at it.As you can probably tell, I could go on forever giving you suggestions (I’m trying not to type anymore or I’ll never stop), but the main thing is that you get a decent plan together of how you will start and maintain your project, otherwise you can end up in situations where it’s difficult to make decisions because you’ve lost sight of the context you were doing everything within.

    I hope that helps.

Just be sure you make a plan that you can stick to and be clear about what actions to take at any time.

Duplicate content - do you need to care?

    Sunday, May 20th, 2007

    Hi,

I was answering a question on this subject for someone and I thought I’d share it here for you.

This issue changes all the time - hence the reason for misinformation and confusion.

It used to be the case that just writing one article and submitting it to as many articles sites as possible was a great strategy.

Over the past 2 or 3 years each search engine has been adopting their algorithms to reduce the impact of automation tools which are designed to find easy ways to rank quickly and well in the SEs but not necessarily by providing good content.

As the Internet grows, this issue becomes more complicated as people try new things to out-do their competition and get search traffic.
The Search Engines are constantly striving to remove crap and show good content.

More recently, this issue of whether, after the first article a searcher really gets value from seeing all the other reprinted versions of it, is where the current situation comes from.

When people first started talking about duplicate content issues, my own testing proved that it was not an issue and they were just speculating, but now I am also seeing that having an article reprinted all over the place has much less impact on visitors and link value than it used to.
So, it is real, but it’s only as important as the emphasis you give it.

A lot of people stop taking action because of worries about this type of thing, and that is a problem in itself, although it does put a different light on using resale rights, PLR etc, content which other people may also be using.

To cut a long story short, unique content which is relevant will always be useful to searchers, and therefore worth creating in order to get search traffic, but the less unique it is, the less extra benefit you get compared to a few years ago.

However, regardless of the issue of duplicate content, the thing I consider even more important is the issue of knowing WHY you’re creating the content and tying-in HOW you create it, so that everything you do is focused on achieving the aim you have.
For example, many people write really nice articles that leave nothing unmentioned and then have a terrible signature section.
This often means that the reader found what they needed and then goes away.
That’s fine if you’re trying to help people fully in one go, but not good for click-through rates for monetisation or traffic generation usually.

So, before you worry about where you should publish your article (and whether the article you publish should even be the same as one you already have on your website), looking at why the article was written and what it is supposed to achieve is uaually a good idea.

A lot of people put time and effort into writing content and create it in a way that doesn’t serve the purpose they were doing it for.

    Niche markets

    Friday, May 18th, 2007

I wrote a report a while ago about how to approach niche marketing, but related it to going to war. It was framed in a way that refered to ‘picking your battles’, ‘attacking enemy week points’ etc.

Initially I intended to it to be for a friends website, but I think I’ll give my blog readers a link to it. I’ll dig it out and post a link as I think you might enjoy it.

I’ll be reopening my Money and Motivation site soon. I first opened it in 2005 and built it into quite a huge resource but hosting ‘issues’ meant that I had to ditch it in the end. It was a pain but hopefully now I can revisit it with fresh eyes, new hosting and more focus so that it’ll help you cut through much of the hype and fluff that seems to fill the IM ether these days.

I’ll be honest up front and tell you that I don’t intend it to take over my life, so I may not include a forum this time (unless popular demand calls for it), and I probably won’t offer personal calls as a standard service, but I will ensure it is full of great information, that you get special discounts, unique offers and gifts and some insights which I don’t share publicly.

If there’s anything in particular that you believe you’re missing and that would help your online success, please feel free to let me know (using the comment system on this blog or by email) and I’ll certainly consider including special extras to cover what you need. Afterall, no amount of generalised information will 100% satisfy you, so I’m completely open to a little tweeking to ensure you get what you need.

Also, if there are any particular marketers that you’d like me to interview or have answer questions, then let me know and I’ll see what I can do.

I’m not making any promises (I know that’s not normal), but I’ll make sure it’s a no-brainer to join.

    IM and dinner

    Friday, May 18th, 2007

    Hi again,

As usual the London Lunch was an interesting combination of Internet Marketing and dining.

Quite a few new people turned up this time and although I didn’t get to speak to everyone, the talk around the tables was suitably varied to make it enjoyable, although as usual I didn’t shut up for long periods at a time :)

I make a point of not taking business cards, and not promoting any of my IM related wares at these lunches, but invariably once people get me talking I end up spilling the beans on many of my strategies and tactics that make IM a much simpler system than it used to be when I started.

Kymi (Kim Standerline) was there again and I’m just building a new membership site based on the latest version of her EasyMemberPro membership script so we had a little chat about that.

The thing I like most about the London lunches is that I can talk ’straight’ about IM, rather than having the added confusion that online communication can sometimes bring. If you’ve met me in person you’ll understand why I say this, as even in person my brainstorming strategies can seem like me just taking an arguementative stance. Some people ‘get it’ and some don’t but it’s even worse online where people just think you’re being nasty or that you’re jealous, or some other mind-reading strategy where they think they know what you ‘really’ meant.

So, fortunately this was another chance for some proper talk about real strategies for making money and doing it in a way that you enjoy and can predict the outcome of your efforts before you spend any money.

Well done Martin (Martin Avis takes the leads in organising these lunches).

    The World Of Making Money

    Monday, May 14th, 2007

    Hi again,

I’m now back in the UK after a week away in Belgium and the Netherlands.

With the last week coming just a week after I was in the Middle East (Qatar and Dubai), it’s nice to get home and sit in my favourite chair and watch TV for a little while.

While I was in the Netherlands I took the opportunity to visit my sister (she lives near The Hague), and we chatted about her upcoming move to Singapore and the upheaval this involves for her family. She has recently become a certified Life Coach and we were applying her techniques on both of our situations to see where we could improve our strategies for a great life.

I’ve done a lot of research into how people see and deal with the world around them, including NLP and other alternative methods, so I love learning new ways to improve my life.

It seems that both my brother (a certified NLP practitioner and long time psycholgy student) and sister, and myself have all separately found our way into helping people learn to have happier and more productive lives.

What we’ve all found over the years is that the more effective we become at this, the easier and more effective it becomes.

When it comes to making money, this has literally been a side effect of our success in other areas, which coincidentally usually seem to be more to do with personal change than external change.

The less I work, the better my results. The more effective I am at doing more of what I enjoy - the more money I earn.

This is a common pattern as I’m starting to see more and more often.

So, if you’re wondering how to earn more money - look at how you can modify your situation to be doing more of the things you enjoy and naturally do well at.

If you can play a musical instrument - consider teaching.

There are lots of ways to turn what you enjoy into an income, and almost always also a way to increase the revenue potential of that situation.

    Just think about it.

You only get one life, so don’t waste it wanting things to be better, just start looking at how to be happier right now, and you can start the change to better things right away.
