Andy In Nice 2008 I’m Andy Henry, I’ve been using the Internet for marketing purposes since 1999 and I’ve used just about every method you could hear of. I’ve created this blog so that I can share what works and what doesn’t with anyone who’s walking a similar path and doesn’t want to have to relearn the lessons I learned the hard (and long) way. Andys 7 Essential Youtube Tips

    Friday, September 4th, 2009

    Hi,

I just shared some tips with a friend and I thought it only right that I shared them with you too.

    They’re for effectively using Youtube:

One of the most common is Tube Mogul, which let’s you upload one video and it will get distributed to a batch of the top video sharing sites. http://www.tubemogul.com/

I have at least 3 accounts on at least 20 different video sharing sites.

With Youtube specifically, there are some basic things for effective marketing which include:

1 – Ensuring that you include the full url that you want people to be able to go to in the description section (so that it appears as a clickable link next to the video.

2 – Youtube allows you to add annotations after you’ve uploaded a video, these are good for call outs at particular points in the video, and also for enabling adding a clickable text link on the video itself (usually at the beginning and/or end of the video when you want people to be able to take your prefer action). It’s worth testing these to see which get the best conversions.

3 – Youtube provide analytics for the video which are worth checking regularly as they show how much and which parts of the video get viewed most. (obviously those are the parts you would tend to focus on having a strong message or a call to action)

4 – Youtube allow ‘tags’, effective use of the tags ensure the video gets found more often and more easily.

5 – linking to specific parts of the video. – If you look at the end of a Youtube url you will often see something like “#t=31m08s” on the end of the url? That link will take you 31 minutes and 8 seconds into that video, so if you’re referring a person that you want to see a particular piece of the video, this is a good way to do it.

6 – The video title you upload with is just about the biggest influencing factor for the number of views it gets.

7 – Thumbnails - Once your video’s been processed, three representative video thumbnails will be generated automatically by the system. Once these thumbnails have been generated, you can select one of the them as your video thumbnail. I have seen a pattern in how far into the video the thumbnails are taken from and considered testing having certain content at those points, but not sure if that’s too far to go. However, the thumbnail is something people often look at, so worth picking the most suitable one, and testing others. There are tools that will let you pick your thumbnails, so that might be better since different video sites do this differently.

I hope you find these tips useful - post your comments below if you like them / don’t like them - or want more.

New Autoresponder Taking On The Big Boys!

    Tuesday, August 11th, 2009

New email autoresponder launches - Imnica Mail

As you probably already know, I’ve been using the existing email autoresponders pretty much since they came out (over 10 years now). The 2 main ones being GetResponse and Aweber.

Well, over the years of doing Internet Marketing I’ve met many other IMers both online and offline. One of those people is a guy called Richelo Killian. I first met Richelo back in 2003 over at a wholesale/ebay sellers website (I used to sell a LOT of stuff on Ebay), and over the years I’ve met Richello a few times personally and at seminars. He’s one of those guys who you may not have heard of but he’s been around a similar time to me and he’s always been there under the radar making money and helping others.

I thought Richello would keep to that same model but very recently he’s done something which I have say - requires balls. (excuse my language)

He’s launched a new email autoresponder system!

That may sound like a trivial, or ‘techy’ thing - but it’s huge.

Since I’ve been using GetResponse and Aweber for so long I never actually thought I’d even consider moving to another provider. In this day and age where email deliver-ability is such an issue.

But since I know Richello and I know he’s been working on this for over 2 years, I know this is a serious thing for him and he wouldn’t do it half-hearted.

The fact that he’s an experienced IMer and has used the other systems himself also means that he knows how they could be better and rather than just create his own solution - he’s stepped-up to the plate and created an alternative for everyone.

The best bit for anyone who’s been considering where to start is that he’s made sure his solution is cheaper than the rest too :)

    Go check it out here

He’s not stupid and because his service is new, he realises he’s going to have to impress people and over-deliver in order to get into a market dominated by just a few big players, so this translates into great news for you and me and he’s assured me that if you join now - you will lock in your price.

He WILL be raising the price as demand picks up, but you can protect yourself from that by locking in your low price now.

I’m actually pretty excited to see how he develops his system and I’d really like to see him succeed at such a balsy move.

Even if you’re not interested in taking up his offer, check it out and make sure you do your friends the favour of pointing them his way for their auto-responder needs.

Starting a new business from scratch

    Wednesday, April 1st, 2009

    Hi again,

I’ve just created a new page on this blog (linked to in the blogroll) with some advice about getting started online.

Rather than repeat it here, here’s a link http://turntoandy.com/blog/how-to-launch-an-internet-business-in-one-day/

Take a look and see what you think.

    My favourite books

    Tuesday, March 31st, 2009

I was looking around on Amazon and I found a nice little tool for sharing your favourites, so I added a few of mine - take a look.

Get a stack of minisite graphics and templates here.

    Friday, February 13th, 2009

    Hi,

As you know, I don’t often tell you to buy things, generally we all have most of the resources we need and taking action is the thing that’s going to make the difference, so I’m serious about the things I do recommend.

I just bought something that I know you’ll love and I wanted to tell you about it.

Although I do sometimes provide material with private label rights, I’m not a massive fan of buying it from other people - unless it’s been created for the purpose I need it. None of this getting anything that someone provides and then trying to find a reason to use it.

So when I buy marketing products it’s always because I can see how they’re going to bring money back to me or help me do something I was already planning.

When it comes to creative thinking I’m right up there with the best of them (remember Mark Joyner’s comment? - “If brains were water - you’d have the Atlantic Ocean Andy”, well I have to admit that when it comes to graphics, I usually look for help.

So although I’m a bit of a techy and can do just about everything myself, I don’t like to spend my time doing things that others can do quicker and better for me.

This brings me back to the graphics package I wanted to tell you about.

There are squeeze pages, video squeeze pages, sign up boxes, minisite graphics and a whole lot more.

For me - this type of offer is a complete no-brainer since I always need collateral for my projects. So when someone puts together a massive package of stuff that I know I’ll need many more times to come, I love it.

I’m already using some of these (customised for my own sites) and they’ve already saved me MUCH more than they cost - just one mini-site usually costs me more than this entire package, so I’m happy and that’s why I wanted to take the time to tell you about it too.

I’m not going to go into all the details of the mass of stuff as you’re probably busy, so just go here and check it out: Firesale

Grab it while you can - and start using it to make sales right away.

    Multiple Class C Hosting

    Wednesday, January 14th, 2009

    Hi,

As you can imagine, I have several hosting companies to handle all of my sites (there are hundreds of them - even with the domains I don’t use not counted)

Although I’m a technical guy I still prefer to keep everything simple, so occasionally I rationalise some of my tools, accounts etc. so that they’re easier to manage. Very occasionally I think of a new marketing method so different that I need different hosting just to allow me to test it.

So, with that said, recently I was having a ‘clear out’ to catch up with any domains I’d bought but wasn’t using and what tools are current and useful and which ones I no longer need or have been replaced with newer or better versions.

There were a few things that surprised me, but one (slightly techy one) was that even with the many hosting companies I use, I’d run out of dedicated IP addresses to use.

Now, at this point if you’re not familiar with the ‘techy’ side of marketing and search engines you might be wondering what I’m on about, that’s fine - you don’t really need to understand it. 15 years ago I would spend a whole day teaching people this stuff but you don’t need to know it, just the impact it has.

So, with no IPs left I could either host my new domains on the same IP addresses as previous ones - not a problem in itself, it’s actually how most people do their hosting.

It’s also the reason I can do some of my ’sneeky’ research when checking out competitors, but I’ll leave that for another day :)

Anyway - I’ll cut to the chase.

I ended up deciding for my search engine related plans this year I need more hosting and so I looked around at my options.

I usually buy what’s called a ‘reseller’ account which means I can host as many domains as I like on that same package and basically behave like a web hosting company - except I’m provding the hosting to myself for each new domain. But as I said - even these accounts aren’t all the same and my current ones have all run out of IP addresses so I decided to rationalise some sites onto a new host which will allow me to have a new batch of different IPs for my cunning seo world-domination tactics :)

The place I settled on (after a recommendation) was GotWebHost

They have some cheap packages which are excellent for serious marketers and search engine experts who need ’special’ things like multiple class C hosting.

In case you’re wondering - the reason I need the different IP addresses is so that when I build related niche websites I can link them to others in my network without some of the search engines thinking that means I’m trying to fool them and no rewarding them for the links.

With search engines like Yahoo and MSN (Google seems to be really good at working out relationships between sites) if I do things effectively, I can get a ton of traffic from interlinking these sites just because these engines like to see links coming in. If I constantly update and change these links they like it even more - so that’s what I do.

Making this stuff work effectively is one of my little secrets to being able to get results that others struggle with. It’s simple, but only if you have a master plan and build your systems efficiently - and there are tools to make most of it light work.

So, if you’re in a rationalising phase or just need a new host - check them out - GotWebHosting

    Andy

Here’s someone you should check out.

    Tuesday, January 6th, 2009

I don’t often talk about what other people are doing since I already know what I need to do and watching other people is usually just an interesting distraction, but occasionally I see people doing good things and want to tell others about them.

This time, the person I’m going to point you at is usually known for being a php expert. He’s releases lots of really nice apps and he’s a good guy too.

However, will that said - he’s been doing php stuff within the context of Internet Marketing for years now and he understands more Internet Marketing methods than most people ever learn.

So do yourself a favour and check out Robert Planks Blog

There’s some really nice information there that you often won’t find anywhere else and he’s always making new content and products.

PPC Bully Exposes Your Markets Money Making Keywords

PPC Bully Exposes Your Markets Money Making Keywords

For years I’ve been hearing people list all the reasons why they don’t use Pay Per Click advertising to drive traffic to their sites.

It’s always “It costs too much”, “I can’t work out which keywords to choose”, “How do I know what Ads to run?”, “I tried it once and couldn’t make money so I stopped”, blah blah blah.

So, rather than keep trying to explain how to do it effectively, I’m just going to be pointing people to a new tool that most of the ‘mass’ don’t even know exists.

It takes almost all of the work out of PPC so that a complete dumbass can stand a chance at quickly and easily making it work for them.

So, stop making excuses for why one of the best traffic sources there is isn’t part of your marketing strategy, and start using it to make some money.

Get Yourself High Quality Videos With PLR

    Tuesday, November 4th, 2008

I’ve decided to start spending some time letting you know about decent products which can help you make money.

PLR Video Package - High Quality

This does NOT mean that I’ll be pimping every product with a commission - in fact, the opposite. I’ve made a point over the years of not being on every bandwagon for all launches that happen.
Sometimes this backfires and I get people emailing me asking where is my link so that they can use it and they’re disappointed when I don’t have one because they were excited about being able to give me some credit while buying something they want.

So, when I see a great product or service and I personally know, or respect the person making the offer - I’ll let you know.

Know, I’ll say up front that I’m expecting to have tested or used everything that I tell you about, but if time doesn’t permit and I’m just too busy I might still tell you about it.

But if I haven’t used or tested it I’ll tell you.

    On to this particular offer.

This is by my friend Edmund Loh and his colleague Stephen Luc.

Since I’ve been in Singapore I’ve taken time to meet and learn about who are the guys out here in the IM field and Edmund is one of them. Edmund has built himself a very successful business creating and selling products with Private Label Rights.

Often people don’t realise the benefits of this business model and it’s not for everyone, but Edmund has made it his business to be successful and he’s doing very well.

His latest offer contains video tutorial products which Stephen is creating. Between the pair of them these guys are doing some great work and this is an excellent chance for you to benefit from that.

If like me, you’ve in IM a while, whenever you go to someones sales page you start wondering if you’re gonna get stung with a One Time Offer (OTO) after your purchase. It’s a great way to increase your revenue and as a smart marketer it can be a great way to offer even better deals to JV partners.

Well, as usual I was reading the advert for this offer and my brain started considering what they might offer as a OTO (knowing they know their business so there will be one), and by the time I finished reading I was looking forward to pressing the BUY button so that I could get on and see what the OTO was.

I was guessing that more of the same would be a good offer - I wasn’t disappointed and I happily bought the OTO aswell.

So, obviously I joined Edmunds affiliate program and wanted to tell you about it too.

    Here’s the link

If you’re quick you’ll get the package at a much lower price than it will reach and they’ll still be crazy enough to be offering the OTO to you - If it’s there, Buy It, you won’t find value like that often.

    Andy

    My Top 3 Twitter Habits

    Tuesday, November 4th, 2008

After all the mention of Twitter recently I thought I’d just share my thoughts now that I got to 1000 followers.

    There’s nothing to it.

It’s just a nice place full of interesting people doing interesting things all over the world.

What am I doing with them? Nothing!

Well, actually I’m talking to them - it’s fun, they’re really interesting people.

Yes I could push a bunch of promotional links a few times a day and try and turn these people into something more, but right now a few strangers are becoming friends and I’m finding out some people are doing really cool things, so I’m good with that.

So - if you’re wondering how to get 1000 followers - all you need to do is find people who like what you like and talk to them. It’s as simple as that.

If you just tap-in to what you’re passionate about you can find a lot of people who you can relate to on a real level.

If you just go spamming people and trying to sell stuff, you might make a few sales but you’ll miss the best part of using Twitter.

I know that’s not a very IM thing to say, but hey I’ve never been very conventional when it comes to IM.

So - I say get on Twitter, meet some cool people and maybe you’ll get Friends, business partners and revenue.

There are some Twitter habits you might like to consider when you get going:

1 - Use the search tool and Twitter directories to find people that have your interests.

Many people just charge around following anyone they can find and then wonder why they’re following 5 times more people than are following them, and why people stop following them so often.

2 - Set your systems up so that Twitter doesn’t intrude.

This can be as simple as just using a desktop application to do all your twittering, or really complicated and using email filters and separate folders with an autoresponder message.

Many people use a tool called ‘tweetlater’ to notify them when someone follows them, tweetlater can also be configured to send ‘tweets’ for you at predefined times and even to send everyone that follows you a nice message.

If you’re using Twitter for your business you could use this facility to send them to a free gift or to find out more about your business.

    3 - Your tweeting platform.

If like me you travel a lot but still want to access Twitter, you can have the messages sent to your phone, you can access it with a web enabled phone/blackberry etc. and there is a mobile version to make viewing on mobile devices more effective.

This is handy but sometimes phone compatibility issues can mean that you can’t login properly so test your access before going on a trip and then finding it doesn’t work.

Some of the most popular tools for tweeting are TwitterooTwitterific and Twitterpost.  Twitterific is at http://twitter.com/twitterific,Twitterpost is at http://twitter.com/twitterpost andTwitteroo is at http://twitter.com/twitteroo

Whichever one you use, make sure you add the corresponding Twitter user to your friends list in Twitter so that you get updates on bugfixes etc.
    See on there :)

    Twitter search directories

    Who is twitter for?

    Tuesday, November 4th, 2008

If you’re not familiar with Twitter and are wondering what all the fuss is about, here’s a little intro into why people are talking about it.

Twitter can be used for many reasons from keeping up with the activities of friends to growing to business and even making money.

As a new user you can start finding and following Twitter users from around the world who interest you,  and share skills and interests while avoiding using websites who ask you for your Username and Password and then send you more than you bargained for.

If you’re familiar with communities like Facebook then you’ll already understand this territory where you get the benefit of keeping up with friends and finding new people, but need to control the amount of ‘flow’ coming your way.

With Twitter that’s as easy as selecting ‘unfollow’ (you can always choose the follow them again later)

For corporations and small business users, you can search for negative comments made about your services or products by Twitter users around the world and be pro-active in improving your product or service. You can even ‘follow’ Twitter users who evangelize your products or services to build relationships with people that are helping your business grow. Doing these activities can help you grow a solid Twitter following that is highly targeted to your business.

If you’re working from home Twitter can bring back that community feel that most home workers miss after leaving a normal job where there are people around and watercoolers to chat near :)

If you read my recent posts about having marketing legend Mark Joyner drop by for lunch you’ll already know I’ve found personal and business benefits from using Twitter.

So, it’s free, you really have nothing to lose and a lot to gain by giving it some attention.

When you do - follow me!

      You’ll find me at http://www.twitter.com/andyhenry

The Only Blogging Resource You Need - Firepow

      Monday, July 28th, 2008

Now, if you know me you’ll know that I’ve been teaching people how to blog successfully for quite a long time and I don’t usually promote blog related things of other peoples since I rarely see any that I don’t already provide.

The other thing you may or may not know is that I hate paying for something every month. In fact, if I want something and someone is charging monthly I usually just pay to create my own version rather than have the leetching my money every month.

With both of those things said - I’m very surprised to say what I’m about to say……

I think you should go (right now) and check out a blogging resource of someone elses. It’s called Firepow

The guys name in Andrew (nice name) Hansen and he’s just released the best blogging resource I’ve seen.

I love to help people that help themselves and this is one of those times. Andrew has put so much value into his offer that I actually feel like I would be doing a mis-service to you by not telling you about it.

Like I said, I hate monthly payments and this is one, but there’s just so much value that if you have an online business it’s a no brainer.

I rarely find anything that I think will apply to almost anyone, but this is so good even I bought it and I’m already doing the things he shares - but he’s automated so many tasks that it’s worth me buying just to save so much time (and not have to pay other people to do it for me either).

There’s a ton of information and different levels for different needs and budgets (plus great promotional resources for affiliates), so I’m not going to go over the things he tells you on his site - just go there and see for yourself.

Wow, that’s so weird to be telling people to go buy someone elses blogging stuff but I feel better for it.
